On May 16, Holmes Community College Police Officer Sgt. Carzell Cavett received a Metro Area Top Cop award during Mississippi’s annual Police Memorial & Appreciation Day luncheon. These awards are presented each year to outstanding federal, state, and local law enforcement officers by the Mississippi Center for Police & Sheriffs.

The Holmes Community College Attala Center is offering a class called “Paint It My Way,” taught by Fine Arts Chair and art instructor Jay Cheatham, Thursday, June 17 and Thursday, June 24 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Limited Seating Available.

Members of the Holmes Community College Communications and Marketing/Recruiting departments brought home 9 awards from the 2019 College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) annual conference held May 20-21 on the Holmes Ridgeland Campus.

The Holmes Community College Development Foundation, Inc. Golf Classic was held on Wednesday, May 8, at Deerfield Golf Club in Madison. Registration and lunch began at 11 a.m., began at noon and a social was held immediately following the completion of play.

Holmes Community College held its 91st commencement exercises on May 10 in Frank Branch Coliseum on the Goodman Campus. The ceremony for Goodman and Grenada campuses and the Attala Center was held at 10 a.m. The ceremony for the Ridgeland Campus and the Yazoo City location was held at 2 p.m.

The Grenada Campus of Holmes Community College held a Pinning Ceremony for the graduating Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Class of 2019 on May 9 in the Corey Forum. Twenty-five students graduated from the program.

The Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College held a Pinning Ceremony for the graduating Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Class of 2019 on May 8 at Ridgeland High School. Twenty-eight students graduated from the program.

Travia Shea Coleman, the surgical technology instructor on the Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus, was elected president of the Mississippi State Assembly of Surgical Technology. Coleman was elected president on Feb. 22, and will serve in this role until 2021. Previously, Coleman served as vice president for two years and on the board of directors for two years.

Holmes Community College Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) sophomore Deanna Sharkey of Canton received a $500 Joyce Adams Scholarship from the Knights of Pillars Nurses Association (KPNA) during a banquet on April 26.
