Holmes Workforce now offering spring Heavy Civil Construction course

Holmes Community College Workforce is now offering an eight-week Heavy Civil Construction course on the Ridgeland Campus, designed to kick-start careers in the growing field of road and bridge building and repair. This hands-on program provides students with the skills and certifications necessary to enter the heavy civil industry and contribute to maintaining and expanding the state’s infrastructure.

The course curriculum covers a wide variety of essential skills, allowing students to explore different areas of the field and discover their career interests. Participants will gain practical experience in a program specifically tailored to meet the demands of Mississippi’s infrastructure projects.

In addition to foundational skills, students will also benefit from:

  • Networking opportunities with professionals and employers in the heavy civil field.
  • Job placement assistance upon successful completion of the course.
  • The ability to make an immediate impact in a high-demand industry.

Eligible applicants may qualify for the Mississippi Reconnect Grant, which provides $10 per hour during training and covers tuition costs. To qualify for the grant, individuals must be unemployed or earn less than $15 per hour in their current job.

Enrollment is now open! For more information on the Heavy Civil Construction course or to apply for the Mississippi Reconnect Grant, visit holmescc.edu/workforce/heavy-civil-construction-program.
