Merit Health Madison donates to Holmes’ Associate Degree Nursing program

Merit Health Madison donated $2000 to the Holmes Community College Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program on March 28. The presentation was held at noon at Merit Health’s Madison location.

This was the second year in a row that Merit Health celebrated National Doctors’ Day by directing contributions toward their chosen local charities in honor of their physicians. The physicians of Merit Health were the ones who first decided that they preferred the money to go to a worthy cause rather than be spent on them directly.

This is the second consecutive year that Holmes’ ADN program has been the recipient of this donation from Merit Health Madison. Holmes ADN Department Chair/Assistant Director Dr. Alice Austin accepted the money and sent it to the Holmes Foundation to contribute to the ADN Scholarship fund.

National Doctors’ Day serves as a moment to acknowledge physicians for their expertise, selflessness and dedication to the community, according to https://nationaldoctorsday.org/about/.

“We are honored and grateful for the doctors at Merit Health Madison,” Dr. Austin said. “We appreciate them donating their funds for Doctors’ Day activities to Holmes’ Associate Degree nursing students’ scholarship fund instead of accepting gifts for themselves. These funds will help our students with tuition and expenses.”
