Three Ridgeland Campus students place in essay contest For the sixth year in a row, Paralegal Technology students from Holmes Community College's Ridgeland Campus were honored by the Mississippi Paralegal Association (MPA) for placing in the Student Essay Contest. Students from all Mississippi colleges who have paralegal programs were invited to submit essays discussing someone who influenced them to begin a career in the legal field.
The winners, Rachel Munoz, Alyse Nicole Nichols, and Alexis Bridges, placed first, second and third, respectively. Munoz is a sophomore from Madison, Alyse is a sophomore from Brandon, and Alexis is a freshman from Pearl.
The winners were honored at MPA's luncheon in Jackson on Jan. 28. Additionally, the winners received a subscription to MPA's newsletter, "The Assistant," where the essays are published; a one-year MPA student membership which includes a one-year subscription to Facts & Findings (a publication of the National Association of Legal Assistants); and cash awards.
We are very proud of their work and representation of Holmes," said Darleen Dozier, program coordinator/instructor for Paralegal Technology. "These awards continue to showcase the excellence of our program and our students."
