Homecoming 2018 is set for Saturday, Oct. 20 on the Goodman Campus with activities starting at 9:30 a.m. and lasting until the end of the football game against Mississippi Delta Community College.

On Monday, Aug. 6, Holmes Community College celebrated the upcoming 2018-2019 school year with a “Running of the Bull(dog)s” themed Opening Convocation on the Goodman Campus. The day included: a breakfast social, a mechanical bull riding competition, an introduction of new employees, a president’s message, break-out sessions and recognition of those who have reached milestones for their years of service to Holmes.

Chances are if you’ve ever scanned radio stations in your vehicle while driving across the state of Mississippi and heard “Alex Paton…News Mississippi” at the end of a news report, you probably didn’t know she was a proud Holmes Community College graduate.

Holmes Community College was recently ranked #2 for Best Online Associate in Psychology Programs by TheBestSchools.org.

Holmes Community College is offering a hybrid Practical Nursing program to begin in the spring of 2019. Applications will be accepted Aug. 15 – Oct. 31 and the 15 applicants will be selected in November.

Holmes Community College Workforce Development will hold an Electrical Lineman Program information meeting for those interested in being a part of the Fall 2018 cohort on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 5 p.m. in the Science and Mathematics Building auditorium on the Goodman Campus. The meeting is mandatory for all potential students who are interested in applying to the 16-week training program.

Former Holmes Community College student Ryan Patrick, owner of Pizza Shack, is knocking it out of the park with his restaurant businesses. A 2003 graduate of Madison Central High School, Ryan first attended the Holmes Ridgeland Campus upon high school graduation.

Holmes Community College is now offering evening High School Equivalency (HSE) classes on the Ridgeland Campus. The classes, which begin on July 24 and will continue throughout the school year, will be offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. in the McGowan Workforce Training Center.

Holmes Community College now offers a Residential Wiring Class at the Yazoo Education Center. The course will begin on Tuesday, July 17 and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for 8-10 weeks. There is no charge for the course, but there are limited seats, so interested persons should register early. There are no requirements or prerequisites required to take this course.

The Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus held a Pinning Ceremony for the Surgical Technology Class of 2018 on June 28 at Madison United Methodist Church. Seven students were honored.
