Holmes/Ivey Mechanical partner to offer Introduction to Plumbing course

The Holmes Community College Attala Center is partnering with Ivey Mechanical to offer an Introduction to Plumbing Trades paid training course. Fifteen students will be selected for the program, which will run from March 19-June 1. The class, taught by Carl Bibbs, will run Monday-Friday at the Attala Center, located on 620 West Jefferson St. in Kosciusko. There is no charge to take the course.

Bell, Montague join Holmes family

Amber Bell of Kosciusko and Cade Montague of McAdams have joined the Holmes Community College family as staff/faculty members. Bell is the new Smart-Start Navigator for the Attala Center in Kosciusko and Montague has joined the Ridgeland Campus as an academic fieldwork coordinator and instructor for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology (OTA) program.

Holmes Community College registration for the spring term began on Nov. 6. The college offers transferable academic courses, the Associate of Arts degree, the Associate of Applied Science degree, technical certificates and career certificates, as well as workforce training.

Academic and technical students with exemplary quality point averages are recognized at the end of the fall and spring semesters by being named to the President’s or Dean’s list. To be eligible for such recognition a student must be enrolled in at least twelve semester hours.

Holmes first JUCO in nation to offer Applied Behavior Analysis course

Beginning in March of 2018, Holmes Community College will be the first community college in the nation to offer PSY 2543 – Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This is an online course that counts toward the 40 hours of training needed to apply for the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential.

Tierce announces retirement after more than 33 years

Before the Holmes Community College Grenada Campus even opened its doors to students in 1985, Joan Estes Tierce had already been serving Holmes’ students for over a year as librarian. After 33 and a half years, Tierce recently announced that the fall semester at Holmes would be her last and she is retiring in December.
