Holmes Community College Fine Arts Chair, art instructor and local artist Jay Cheatham recently provided artwork used on the cover of Yazoo City native Robbie Roberts’ book entitled “Tales from Yazoo and Beyond.”

Before the Holmes Community College Grenada Campus even opened its doors to students in 1985, Joan Estes Tierce had already been serving Holmes’ students for over a year as librarian. After 33 and a half years, Tierce recently announced that the fall semester at Holmes would be her last and she is retiring in December.

Grenada Campus English Instructor and English, Foreign Language and Speech Department co-chair at Holmes Amber Mabus recently received the Ovid S. Vickers Award for Excellence in The Teaching of English from the Two-Year College English Association of Mississippi at their annual meeting at Eagle Ridge Conference Center in Raymond in late September.

The Holmes Community College Carols of Christmas 2017 concert is set for Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the Goodman Campus.

Goodman Campus Librarian Jim Thompson received a special honor recently by being chosen as the only community college employee ever chosen to attend the EBSCO Users Group for North American Libraries event in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Homecoming 2017 is set for Saturday, Oct. 21 on the Goodman Campus with activities starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until the final horn sounds for the Bulldogs football game with Northeast.

Holmes Community College’s Goodman/Grenada Campus Trek Coordinator Jonathan Wright received the 2017 Outstanding Career Services Professional of the Year Award during the Mississippi Association of Colleges and Employers (MACE) Annual Summer Conference held July 19-21 in Vicksburg.

The Holmes Alumni Association is gearing up for their District Dog Lunches in the nine counties supporting Holmes Community College.

All dormitories on the Goodman Campus are completely full at this time, according to Housing Director Terry Fancher.
