Boswell Media’s “Cruisin for a Cure” truck made a stop at the Attala Center in Kosciusko last week promoting Breast Cancer Awareness in Attala and surrounding counties.

On Friday, September 21, the Two-Year College English Association of Mississippi (TYCAM) held its annual conference at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center in Raymond, and three Holmes employees were named to leadership positions.

Homecoming 2018 is set for Saturday, Oct. 20 on the Goodman Campus with activities starting at 9:30 a.m. and lasting until the end of the football game against Mississippi Delta Community College.

Giving back to the community is a vital part of being a nurse, and the practical nursing students at the Attala Center put this skill to good use by volunteering their time, skills and monetary donations with Shepherd’s Touch, a free community clinic in Kosciusko.

Academic and technical students with exemplary quality point averages are recognized at the end of the fall and spring semesters by being named to the President’s or Dean’s list. To be eligible for such recognition a student must be enrolled in at least twelve semester hours.

Goodman Campus Automotive Technology instructor Derrick Rainey received one of the faculty’s highest honors on April 30 during the Goodman Campus Awards and Honors Banquet – the Sally Wilson Distinguished Educator Award chosen by the student body from the Goodman Campus.

Holmes Community College staff members Dr. Robert Harris and Dr. Lawanda Herron will serve as commencement speakers for the May 11 Commencement Exercises on the Goodman Campus. Dr. Harris will deliver the commencement address for the 10 a.m. AA Commencement while Dr. Herron will deliver the commencement address for the AAS/Certificate Commencement at 2 p.m.

The 2018 Social & Behavioral Science Honor’s class program which was designed and taught by Psychology Instructor Jacqueline Bell and Social Work/Sociology Instructor Rhonda Eichler-Johnson is completing its third year at Goodman campus.

Holmes Community College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Associate Chair and Computer Science Instructor Dr. Robert Harris recently received the Horizon Lifetime Achievement Award from the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Academy of Sciences.
